UESP Is Changing Its Name

Utah’s 529 college savings plan will become my529

Advisors, your clients have likely referred to their Utah Educational Savings Plan (UESP) account as “my 529 account.” We thought we’d make it official.

On February 5, 2018, UESP will become my529. We are the same company—we simply changed our name.

All of your firm and client account information will be intact. Advisors and clients will still experience the support and features they are accustomed to with UESP.

How will this change affect accounts and account owners?

Investment portfolios and account balances will not be impacted. Clients will now view account information via my529.org instead of uesp.org with their existing account number and login information.

Your clients’ 2017 tax documents and fourth quarter statements will bear the UESP logo. Beginning February 5, 2018, expect to see the my529 logo on all plan communication such as newsletters, quarterly statements, Account Access, and my529.org. Our previous URL, uesp.org, will redirect the user to my529.org.

How will this change affect advisors?

Your advisor Account Access will retain its current look and functionality, but also will transition to a new URL. You will be able to view and manage accounts at advisor.my529.org rather than beta.advisor.my529.org.

Why the name change?

The decision to rebrand UESP involved considerable research, discussion, and development. The name my529 eliminates any confusion about what kind of savings plan we are. People will now recognize that the plan is a 529 educational savings plan, not another kind of savings vehicle. It was also important to underscore that 529 funds can be used in any higher education institution nationwide or abroad that accepts federal financial aid, not just for college and not just schools in Utah.

And now you can use 529 funds for K-12 tuition expenses at a public, private, or religious school.
