Meet the team

We appreciate and admire the work you do for your clients, navigating them through life changes, seeing how they manage the pandemic and helping their families—especially as they save for college with my529.

We understand how you help clients because we are dealing with similar challenges. Here’s a glimpse into the lives of two members of the my529 Professional Services Team—Abby Martin and Katie Turner.

How long have you worked at my529?

Abby: Three years, and I have been on the Professional Services Team for one year.

Katie: Nine years, and on the Professional Services Team for five years.

What is your educational background?

Abby: I have three bachelor’s degrees, in French, Chinese and Asian Studies. I also have a master’s degree in art history. I love learning—it has always been a huge passion of mine.

Katie: Bachelor of Behavioral Science from Utah Valley University. I love learning about people, and trying to understand why people make the decisions they do.

What do you enjoy most about working at my529?

Abby: Helping advisors to utilize our platform and help their clients have the best experience and benefit from having my529 accounts to help save money for their kids’ colleges.

Katie: With an uptick in focus on behavioral finance, I’m able to blend my educational background with institutional knowledge in the conversations I have with advisors who are servicing client accounts and are making decisions about how to better families’ lives.

How have you managed your time during the pandemic?

Abby: You can find me watching “The Great British Baking Show,” attempting to read “Dune,” and trying to find my cats, Karate and Lilu, who are hiding in the back garden.

Katie: Gardening, enjoying fire pits in the backyard with a glass of wine or re-reading the Outlander book series.

What has been a recent life change for you?

Abby: My partner and I of seven years are planning to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary this June! We were going to have a big wedding last September, but because of COVID, we eloped to Park City, Utah. No regrets!

Katie: I’m a mom of three little girls, including a newborn. I love reminding my husband that he’s destined to be surrounded by beautiful women his whole life.

What are your post-pandemic plans?

Abby: Traveling with my husband and bowling!

Katie: Going on a big family trip to somewhere tropical.
